I have a 74 Charger SE. The vinyl top is off. I see six studs across the top of the roof (toward the back glass) for the moulding to attach to, but then I have a hole on each roof edge (passenger side and driver side) Does this mean I have a stud missing on each side, or is there supposed to be a screw there? Does anybody have any pictures of what's supposed to be there? 20200921_165727_reduced by Michael McQuay, on Flickr

I don't have an answer for your question, but just wanted to welcome you to the forum.
I sent you an email as well.

without say WHICH ONE IS the exactly piece your car uses, since this piece changes its size according with the molding width, it must get this, slided into the molding and the stud going through the roof panel hole, getting the nut underside

sometimes, some moldings get a selftapping screw to those holes and the next molding gets inserted into it, overlapping one molding to the other and covering the screw head, but this uses to be with pot metal molds ( like Halo tops on hardtops are )

Interesting. I was "thinking" like the little bitty nail headed weld stud that you see....something like this. But I really have NO IDEA. It's just what popped into my mind.

I got the screw kind to replace some missed rivets on my car. I have 40 screws of those I got from 521resto I think on ebay ( well I think I got 40, they were two bags ). Bot those are replacement parts from the welded stud rivets. None of them used at assembly plant. So stock holes can't be for those. Aside those are huge holes and screw holes must be way smaller.
My car uses 4 or 5 of those spring loaded studs which slides into the molds, but is halo top, so molding is not that wide like SEs

I found this picture on another thread ( wichargerguy.proboards.com/thread/19642/trim-removel ) and it shows holes in the same places that mine has holes, so I don't think I'm missing any studs. I think a screw goes in that hole, probably holding a moulding clip that's a little different than the moulding clips that go on the studs (at least that's my best guess, plus I found a screw that fits perfectly in that hole). That same thread shows that these type moulding clips go on the studs: And this type moulding clip goes underneath the louvered windows: So I'm wondering if one of the type that goes beneath the louvered window also goes at the edge of the roof where it begins to turn down and utilizes a screw to attach the clip to the car... The first picture also sparks another question, though. What is the proper way to finish out the window insert? Body filler? Caulk? Some kind of seam sealer? Any ideas what's best?

Never have worked on 73/74 SEs but usually they get filled with body filler.
Pretty sure as mentioned the holes are for the spring loaded fastener.

Just to be clear, I'm say that the 3 holes I've circled in red are screw holes (I think). The one up high is the same size as the 2 below the window, so I think all 3 are screw holes. I believe the big hole I've circled in green is where the spring loaded metal fastener goes. Does that sound right to you? 0s4010726_circled by Michael McQuay, on Flickr

I'm not an SE expert, but the bigger holes will get the spring loaded stud for sure.
