Oh ok I will look at that and to answer the question about where the wires look altered. In the interior, there are random splices that lead to nowhere and I believe there is one or two in the engine bay as well. I believe it has something to do with either the lights, the windshield wipers, or the ignition switch. Whenever I disconnected the headlight dial, the light would change in brightness whenever I adjusted the windshield wiper dial. The only thing the lights and the wiper dials share is i believe they have the same ground in my car.

Is there a ground wire or (hot wire) coming from the steering column that may be attached to the headlight switch somehow? Wiper switch looked good. I've never seen this before.

Actually I'm not sure. There is a screw that holds in two grounds under where the dials for the wipers and the lights but Im not actually sure what they go to. Probably shouldnt assume lol.

Looking under the dash at the wiring coming and going from the headlamp switch, have any of those wires been cut/spliced/modified? I'm thinking if pulling that switch is the trigger for this, lets begin there.
You mentioned it's '71 SE....does it have concealed headlamps?

And I don't believe any of them have been spliced but it's hard to tell because the wires for them go behind the carpet next to the driver side door. I did unplug one of the connections for the lights and it stopped lighting up everything whenever I pulled the dial but everything still lit up like it did in the video whenever I turned the key to accessories

I'm thinking I would do a general inspection first then disconnect all the harnesses under the hood at the bulkhead and do your test again. If you still have the feedback/short happening you at least now know it's inside the car. If it no longer lights the tester the short outside.

The only problem I can see with that is that the interior gets its power from the bulkhead so if I disconnect everything, nothing will have power. But that is a good idea. I can disconnect them one by one and see when it stops doing it.

Yeah that occurred to me. Just don't disconnect the plug with the larger red wire but inspect that one for melting.

Funny you say that because I've taken them off before and there is one that looks to have melted
