Bought these last summer went to install them and found... - That the two ends that slide into the window surrond trim are thicker than original.
- The pin/peg that goes through the body is a different shape, repro on the right.
- The pal nut does not fit, maybe that's why the repros don't come with any attachment hardware.
Has anyone else purchased these? My originals are okay bought I thought wow these look great and then went to install them. I don't understand in this day and age why companies are unable to replicate a lot of the original pieces. I am very thankful for the reproduction market but it just gets a little annoying. I could squeeze the ends into my molding trim but then they would look flared. I am currently searching for an NOS pair. If I do decide to use them any thoughts on how to secure them?

I'd file those areas... including the pin
They have been long time in the market now. I can't believe somebody else didn't claim about tis earlier.
What part of the molding is the pictured over the keyboard?

Hey Nacho!! I was thinking the same thing about filing. The part of the molding over the keyboard is one of the ends that slides into the trim, I was trying to show the thickness of the "tab".
Just odd why they wouldn't go with the pin design, I'll get out the dremel and see what I can do.
Hope you are keeping well.

While I don't have any experience in that particular part I do have a lot of experience in aftermarket parts selling them at NPD and can offer this info: Moldings are usually not the same thickness as original but usually thinner. Often in our listed information it will be stated the original fasteners won't work with the aftermarket parts. Even some actual parts won't intermix with oem such as wiper transmissions won't work with original wiper arms and you have to buy the matching aftermarket arms. Such is the aftermarket industry. Don't shoot the messenger. . Nothing more annoying then selling parts, which I make a commission on, then having them returned cause they don't fit which comes back off your sales numbers. I've often thought two things. 1) For as long as these parts have been reproduced why can't they refine them and make them better and 2) With all the millions of dollars of parts being produced why don't more US companies want a piece of the pie. Good luck with your project. I'd grind that pin. It looks like it could be a manufacturer defect. Believe me I've seen a lot of weird defects.

Thanks for your comments 71se, when I purchased them there was not picture of the backside, now I see them listed and they show the pins. I think If I had seen them I may have passed.
It wasn't a big investment so that's okay. However I am very happy with the Fine Lines reproduction Vapor Fuel Line... $96.08 for the part & $87 shipping (ouch).
Probably won't bother with fitment until the spring

Like Nacho stated, file the pins down and the pal nuts should be able to cut into the existing pin and tighten itself.

Keep in mind once you file/grind the chrome off, being pot metal, they will rust. Be sure to paint them or put something on that piece to cover the bare metal. Just sayin'

Good advice guys. I'll definitely put something on to give some protection.

Being pot metal won't get rust really. It can get pitted but it takes too much years to that happening. Chrome is just on exterior areas. Originals are not chromed on non visible areas.
Diff stuff the pot metal quality on the repro pieces.
Originals begin to get pitted underneath the chrome layer anyway.
