The part about them all being used up and thrown away is hard to hear. Any idea how many are left?
Do gull wings normally have a gloss finish?
It looks like the wire harness in the trunk was mounted higher in 71 than 72. That's an odd change to make. The 71 position is better if something spills in the trunk, but it's partly hidden under the trunk mat in 72 and maybe it's better protected from impact damage there.

I don't remember where my wiring is located but I have the carpeting option in my trunk so maybe it covers more. I'll try to remember to look next weekend when I FINALLY uncover the car and get ready to do some driving.

Have you got pics of your trunk? I don't believe I've seen a carpetted version yet. I've seen it with some kind of cover on the sides, which I remember being cardboard. I'm sure that looks great until it gets beat up.

I'll have to look through my pics. I also have the cardboard trunk dress up kit, option C97, which came with the SE model though a little beat up. Repros are available. The carpet kit included a carpeted spare tire cover also. Haven't figured out yet if the carpet was standard with the SE or a separate option.

Here is the only pic I have of the trunk. At least you can see where it covers under the spare tire. I'll try to remember to take a pic this weekend. www.flickr.com/photos/182536383@N06/52183169561/in/dateposted-friend/You can see the cardboard on the sides and note the jack instruction sticker you were asking about and the tire size written in the upper right corner.

I have the carpet cover for the spare. It's a little brittle with age but otherwise in good shape. I haven't seen any indication of the cardboard dress up, but the sound deadener behind the seat was gone so maybe my car had cardboard at one point but it didn't survive.

Looks like you've got some rust in the same place I do. I hope your trunk isn't rotted through in the same spot too.
I can see how those cardboard pieces might have disappeared before I got the car. They could have been taken out by the painter and never found their way back in. No way of ever knowing . . .
