Check the fuse and the wiring to the cigarette lighter. The wizards at Chrysler put the lighter on the same circuit as the brake lights. I was behind a friend in a 73 Charger on the way to Carlisle when his brake lights crapped out. I asked him at the next gas stop if he had lit a cigar while he was stopped and sure enough...poof went the fuse. Check the taillight ground in the trunk, too.
Let us know how you make out.

Ryan, it sounds like you're going to have to get yourself a trouble light and start working your way through the circuit. I don't have a 73/74 schematic, so I may miss a turn or two, but basically you're going to be looking for B+ (full battery voltage, whatever that might be, but usually in excess of 12V) at the "hot" side of the brake light fuse. If you have that, install the fuse and see if you have current through it, and into the terminals on the "other" side of the fuse block. If so, move on to the connector at the brake switch. If you have B+ there, apply the brake pedal (IE: close the switch) and see if you have current through the switch. If so, check for B+ on the other side of the connector. From there, check for the B+ at the brake lamp sockets. If you fail to get current "through" or to any of these points, check the wiring and connectors between the last good point and the failed point.
From what I understand, the tail light sockets on our cars can be trouble, so be sure to check the socket contacts inside. Also, make sure you have the right bulb # being used for those brake lamps. Sometimes they get changed out an incorrect bulb, and you'll find the contacts don't line up, or the # of filaments is incorrect.
If you're not blowing fuses (due to a short to ground), then you must have an open in the circuit (bad wire, bad terminal connection, bad switch). While not fun work, and often time consuming, this is a fairly simple circuit, and shouldn't be too hard to diagnose (said the guy not having to do it).

schematics diagrams are on tech archives. Sorry 74 is hard to read without all the plugs codes only available on FSM AND EVEN IN THAT WAY!
73 on light net is the same than 74 just that on tech archives you'll see to 73 only underdash harness rally, and not rear harness anywhere. Rear harness is easy, just wires straight up to bulbs.
if you want tail codes: -gray is ground, and is just pressent on tail lights pigtails, not on rear harness. Is attached to trunk location. -violet, reverse -brown is one side turn and brakes -green is the other side turn and brakes -black is parking everywhere including license light
Then on rear harness you'll find blue what is gas sender and another wire which I don't remember right now the color what is constant positive to trunk light. On underdash is pink, but becomes in diff color on rear harness.
I think I haven't asked enough question to track the problem thought!
do you have hazzards and turn on rear ?
we could be playing with damaged turning switch on steering column. Brakes signal goes throught turning switch before run to rear.
Check if you have power on white wire arriving to turning switch plug down the column when press brakes.
If you have power on white wire, then check dark green and brown wires on same plug. Those are the output to rear lights ( brake/hazzards and turning )
