I went to the u-pullit today and got a pair of beautiful leather buckets. Driver power and passenger manual. They are currently gray and I want to dye them green to match my interior. What is a good product for this?
I know, I know they are not correct for a 74 but I think they will look great. Besides they were only 20 bucks a pair.

Bob, another hint on putting buckets in your car. You more than likely will have issues with getting them in level as the floor in a Charger is not really level.... so to speak. On the original bucket tracks for our cars, the inner track is about 1 inch taller than the outside track. Just trying to help you out in advance. #2Thumbs#

Ohhhh Baaaaawwwwb...Yoo-Hoo #WaveHi# You also will need to add something they call "bucket seat reinforcement plates" if your car is an original bench seat car. (Tom will correct me if I'm wrong). But, it is my understanding that there isn't a problem when going from bucket to bench (other than adding 4 rubber plugs on the inside holes), there is however a stress factor that is introduced when converting the other way. Hence the reinforcement plates...which by the way I have seen ARE available from quite a few vendors. IT SHOULD BE NOTED: this is my longest reply in a while, as I have been otherwise "occupied"...and I only took the time because it affects you Bob, whom I may need to store a hood for me. ~Jer~ 1d 13h 10m

Well, the guy that towed a 98 Buick to my garage yesterday for a engine swap bought them from me for his 38 Ford pick up. I seen on DC.com where the 82 Dodge work vans have the high rise buckets that are very similar to the original buckets. Do a search useing the word dye and you will see the string a ways down. Jer, I'm proud of you. I read your reply without taking a break. Bob

Bob,
What kind of front seat do you have now?... Split bench w/ no headrests? Split bench w/ integrated headrests? Split bench w/ separate headrests? Split bench w/ folding armrest? ..What?
How about a pic of the thing? There may be someone on this forum that wants what you got (not the cows!), and would be willing to work something' out for some buckets!
Just a thought.
Gotta go, Jer. 0d 14h 46m

Hi jer, They are the typical brougham bench, high back bucket. they are in decent shap but I prefer buckets. I guess they just look better in my humble opinion. I'm slowly getting over the "keep it original" look. Like some folks have said, "It's your car, do what you what". I will not butcher it by no means. Anything I change I will certainly keep the old to turn it back to it's original condition if I decide to sell.

Dont those van seats swivel to the outside. I can see where those would be nice for a fella getting up there in years! I have noticed those seats in vans recently but did not pay close attention to them.

Swivel? Hmm, not a bad idea. I mean for us old people it would be perfect. NOT!
