I'm a long-time MCG subscriber, and saw that article. There was also one in Mopar Action recently, if I recall correctly. Cool cars all, but as you say, no clear "winner" able to claim this title.

Its a shame there will be no definitive answer. I can't believe believe vin sequence won't tell. I wonder why. Looking at the big picture, does it really matter. I wouldn't mind having the last or second to last. How much more could the last bring over the second to last?

Looking at the big picture, does it really matter? To most people....absolutely not. But in the exclusive world of high dollar car collectors.....it most certainly does matter. It's pretty much just a simple matter of having "bragging rights"

I can't believe believe vin sequence won't tell. I wonder why? The over simplified answer to this is that VIN numbers don't have a whole lot to do with the exact order in which the cars were produced. VINS were assigned when a car was ordered. In fact, the article makes a reasonable case that neither of the most argued about cars (Tim Wellborns and the RK car) may be the last one produced. That a specific late order sunroof car could be. (71 Hemi Super Bee) Sunroof cars were partially completed, then shipped off site to American Sunroof for sunroof install, then returned to assembly line for completion. According to the article, the SB has the highest VIN known, latest known order date, ....and given that it is a sun roof car, that it's production would have had a "built in delay" due to it's needing to go to American Sunroof.

Ahh! Understood .
Now that sure places them on a level playing field . Either one can claim to have the last hemi charger and neither can prove it definitively. In my opinion , this makes the most valuable car the one with the rarest options and in the best condition . Story over!

What I found interesting and refreshing is that the owner of the 71 Hemi Super Bee, makes no claims at all. Apparently he is not interested in joining the dog and pony show that the other two have engaged in. As far as RK motors. www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/?adtype=dynamic-sitewide&gclid=CJ3nuo6ktbgCFUgV7AodRGIAvAThey sell high line classic cars of all makes and models. They also do restorations. Since they don't "specialize" in Mopars....I can easily believe that their Mopar restorations may be lacking in areas. Cosmetically beautiful, but perhaps lacking in the correct details that a Mopar restoration shop would (hopefully) get right.

When I was looking last year ,I called them about a nicely priced 1972 ,440 charger, white. They had sold it many months before. They apologized for not taking it off right away. It may have been the hook car to get you in the door. I was priced out of everything else anyway.

RK indeed has some great iron. I'd love to tour their shop. But then why would I torture myself! Even if I was to do it all over again, sure I could get a fabulous car from them, but the way I am I like slightly modified not restored. Guess I need 2 cars. One to drive and one to drool on. Hmm, there's a good idea.

Hmm, there's a good idea. I did not mean physically in the door . I entered their cyber show room door . I wish I could have toured their showroom. That would be torture for me also . I actually found their ad in Hemmings Motor News . apparently there ad kept running for a while after they sold it. The reason why I thought it might be a hook ad is because the price was very reasonable compared to all the other cars . I think they were asking around 18,000 for the white rally. It felt too good to be true . Sent from my PC36100 using proboards
