I always thought the little build date on the fender tag would've made it cut n dry. There is a nice write up as pointed out above that just makes me go HUH! Good watchin for sure!!! Thanks for sharing ;-)

Thanks for sharing ;-) No, the build date is just a scheduled date. Like the VIN, it's not set in stone. My '72 has a 4th of July build date on the fender tag. Way cool in my opinion, but no doubt inaccurate. I wouldn't think that there's any way a UAW plant was working the 4th of July in 1972.

I could not help but be slightly amused that the last name of the author of the "Prove it" article is "Krook" The Mopar Action article seems to draw more conclusions than the MCG article. I did not really understand why the MA article somewhat dismisses the 71 Bee being the last Hemi, as improbable.

Seems to be one of those things that nobody will every truly know. I saw the discourse on that site where they were going back and forth over who's car was the later date and it seemed to come down to technicalities of when it was delivered/ordered/etc as nobody can really know the exact time/date the car was finally assembled.
Beautiful car nonetheless but as long as somebody has a valid contest to this claim, it us unsubstantiated at best.
I hate to say it but I think the guy who had this car restored is looking to make a small fortune when he sells that car riding on that claim.

Reading the report was very informative with respect to Chryslers build process. I saw nothing that contradicted my own personal, novice research. All the Chargers examined are exceptional cars and I'd be happy as a clam to own any of them. The only disappointing thing is RK Motors "stretching" of the truth; it doesn't reflect positively on their "marketing". For me, it would also cast doubt about claims with regard to their other cars.

American exceptionalism in the 21st century is unfortunately some barker bragging to drum up sales - pity.
