-The Reilly Motorsports 4-link rear suspension has arrived -Ordered the Alterkation front K-frame setup -Ordered the 13" Wilwoods for up front -Currently looking for a Dana rear end and shopping wheels for the build. Due to size limitations, I think I'm going to put 17" aluminum Magnum 500 replicas on the car. Not really liking the way the 17's look with Torq Thrust type wheels.

After borrowing a MIG welder (old Clarke MK100e) and a CO2/Argon bottle, repairing/modifying the torch head, I'm now trying my skill at cutting out & patching rusted areas. Many of you have likely done rust repair at the hood hinge mounts (front most mount). Mother Chrysler made this a ready area for cancer- no rustproof coatings; exposed to water/salt; a trap for corrosion. Fabricating the new patch isn't a 10 minute project either. Lots of grinding and test fitting- grind and test, grind and test.... Also want to media blast the reinforcement plate. May prime, but the heat from the welding will burn some of it off. If any of you have suggestions/shortcuts, share them. yfrog.com/n6hingertjyfrog.com/5npatchrtj

Trying to weld a new patch onto thin metal is a real headache. If I had to do it all over again, I might wait until I had a set of these butt weld clamps on hand, I used them on the other side of the car and that side was much easier to line up and tack in..... www.autobodytoolmart.com/butt-weld-clamps-kit-p-12871.aspx

Looks like you are doing well dodgecharger4404.
When I attacked this area on my Charger in the very early '90's, there was a local company making a patch for that area. They went out of business many years, I'm sorry to say.
I'm sure many will disagree, and standards have changed on this sort of thing over time, but at the time I decided that a stronger repair could be achieved with a flanged edge on the patch panel, and double welding it. Since the double thickness will only be visible at the top of the inner fenderwell from the outside (tire side), with some undercoating, I think it will be all but undetectable. #Twocents#

On my 71 SE, since the beginning of the year. Finished wet sanding, cut and buff. Paint tail light assembly. Install new leaf springs. Restore gas vapor collector, located behind splash shield. Replace fuel gauge sending unit. Replace both knuckle arms, one tie rod end. Replace front brakes, hub/rotors. Install new engine wiring harness. Install new forward lighting harness. Restored grille and grille surround. Reassembled front grille with rebuilt headlight motor. Upgraded headlight wiring. Installed real seat belts. Installed new door hinges. Replaced all weatherstripping on doors, including the window weatherstripping. Cleaned and polished all chrome and stainless trim before reinstalling on car, what a pain in the . Replaced the vent grilles in the front of the dash. Chased a multitude of wiring issues. Installed Eastwood thermo-coustic barrier on the floor boards and firewall, it's a knock off of the Dynomat. Bought lots of extra parts that I didn't think I would need.
I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now.

Sounds like a lot of excellent progress, do you have any pictures of your work?

Sounds like a lot of excellent progress, do you have any pictures of your work? Click on the link below. Since i posted last time i discovered that the rear brakes that I had a "mechanic" do many years ago are all f/u. Two primary shoes on the left, two secondary shoes on the right. The shoes on the left are the new ones, the rights have been on since I bought the car in 95 from the looks of them. The self adjusting assembly on both sides aren't even there. And this car got a yearly inspection, except for the last 4 years. Just another example of if you want it done right, do it yourself. I should have the car finished by the end of this weekend. www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,69737.0.html

Well my 67 is getting ready for some door adjustments and a couple odds and ends before her winter hibernation. My 73 is being delivered on Saturday and I've been gathering some parts to get her back to right. I'm waiting to see how chewed up the wiring is under the hood before I order any more stuff. Going to see how much has been changed and already have the valve covers, air cleaner and correct grilles (on the way). Gott get those painted. Probably going to get a correct carb and choke etc. for it. Then some cleaning, polishing and mending over the winter.
