Since my clumsy fingers and feeble mind managed to delete the original thread........
Start from the top.....I bought a 71 Charger on eBay a couple weeks ago in Alabama. $1000 derelict
base 318 car, bench seat, standard gauges.
Terry and I went to pick it up.
Roof and cowl are bad. Real bad. My initial plan was to slowly fix this car, primarily using parts that I already have on hand. But I was going to need a cowl/roof donor parts car.
Terry and I went to South GA to pick up a 72 Satellite parts car, with a good roof and cowl.
Unfortunately it was a waste of time. The roof was "toast" Just a waste of a day and $100+ of gas.
But we did get some tasty ribs for dinner.
Then we headed to Florida to pick up another 71.....Halfway there, I gave the seller a courtesy call to let him know we were on the way and running on time. I was informed that the car was no longer for sale. Really? Another $100 in gas wasted.
I took a trip to Tennessee, to a JY, where I picked up two fenders for it. Far from perfect, but only $80
Then I found an ad on B bodies only....and managed to successfully buy 3 cars in Virginia. 7 hour drive-one way.
A 71 Super Bee, 71 SE, and 73 Roadrunner 400 4 speed car.
The 71 SE is strictly a parts car. But it does have Rallye dash, buckets, 8.75 rear end, and power windows.
The Super Bee is a fairly solid project car. The original hood was missing. Most of the bolt on sheet metal will need replacing, but the core shell is decent.
Original engine and trans are missing. Car was wrecked before and 73 front clip installed. Looks like the core support was crudely repaired/partially replaced. This is now my new project. No, I do not want to sell it.
The 73 RR is probably somewhat rare. I don't know the exact numbers, but Big block, 4 speed cars don't grown on trees.... Though I bought it for the roof and cowl, I am having second thoughts about hacking it up. Unfortunately, most of the goodies have been stripped from the car. Pedals, rear end chunk, steering column with Tuff wheel, trans, rallye dash, interior, pistol grip....
Headed out to get the 71 SE parts car on Thursday.
Will add pictures of the cars this weekend.
