Well, it's official!!
We paid the down payment to the contractor today and they agreed to have the new garage addition done on or before the 3rd week in October.
we took bids from 8 different contractors and did a LOT of haggling to get the price we wanted, but in the end, we got exactly what we asked for on the budget WE decided on before we started asking for bids.
Current Garage = 24 x 24 two stall New Garage = 28 x 48
I will get some pictures up as things progress and let you know how it's being setup when I am done with the wiring blueprints.
I can hardly wait ;D ;D

I wish! there's no way I could have stayed in budget with radiant heat. We are installing a natural gas unit. The blower motor is sealed and it uses spark ignition so when it's off, there is no chance of an opps if I am painting. I will be taking pics as the build gets started and keep taking them throughout the build. best part about the new shop is that I now have a large back area to restore the 71 I am working on and plenty of room to store the new 71 500 until I decide what direction to take with it. Even with those cars both inside, the wife will still have room to park her car during the winter months. ;D

Make sure they put down plastic under the slab to keep moisture from coming up through the concrete then.
Floor drain too? Wish I was doing mine!

Thats awesome Cory. You know it will never be big enough. We built a 42 x 44 and I could still use another 12 feet in length. If you ever think you will put a lift in make sure you pick the post area and pour extra cement. You'll be glad you did. Congradulations and can't wait to see the progress pics. Tom is good at additions to the garage. Call him if you need any advice.

Thats awesome Cory. You know it will never be big enough. Thanks Bob, and you're right, no matter how big it is, it's never big enough. the more room I have, the faster I seem to fill it up. I don't think I will worry about extra concrete or anything else too fancy on this addition. the main plan is to get the extra bit of room and get the whole space sealed up, insulated, and heated. If things work out, we will be selling this house in about another 6 years and building our final house. The wife and I started on a 3 house plan about 15 years ago and this is house number 2. the third and final house (once the two older kids graduate) we intend to build from ground up the way we want it including shop and extras. God willing, the third house will be where my wife and I retire and teach the grand kids the value of a properly restored Mopar ;D

Here's a rough draft of the new garage layout.. The little blue circles are air line drops. 4 of them kinda float in the middle of the shop because those are ceiling mounted hose reels, the other 3 along the walls will be actual drops coming from the ceiling down the wall with a water drain valve under them. as you can see in the drawing, we decided to give up a little floor space to close in a small area for the compressors and chemical storage. this area will be well insulated and will have heat/air from the house keeping it at normal temps. doing this allows me to only run the heat for the whole shop when I plan to work in the shop instead of all year. It also creates a fairly dust free closet where I can setup a sound system. I figure with the air compressor closed off, I may be able to hear music in the shop now. The little square boxes with a "P" in them are plugs, there are more plugs then that, those are just the new ones we will be adding. I'll get some pics in the next week or two when the crew comes to start tearing up my yard. ;D
