Will the "Big & Fat" bumperettes w/rubber inserts (from 73/74 Chargers) bolt up to my '72 front and rear bumpers to replace the "small and wimpy" ones?
If not, what are the fitment issues that prevent said interchange from happening?
Thanks for any info.
Jer.

Question for you my friend. Is it that the 72's are hard to find, is why you would want to put the big ones on?

I think you can on front but I don't think in rear without change rear valence, or enlarge cut out.
need to be clear if you want Deluxe or Standart ones and 74 changes from 73 on rear lower braces and attaching point on frame rail.
74 are curved lower brace to meet with frame rail and then fasteners on frame rail.
73 uses an extra "offset" bracket to attach the straight lower brace. Does not bolt up directly on rear frame rail
Standart rubber pieces are with lower braces BUILT IN on guard at least on 73, dunno on 74. Deluxe lower braces are pieces to bolt on chromed section guards.
I think you can interchange the complete assembly though since I think holes are there on all years, but need to be confirmed

Are those standard or deluxe? Question for you my friend. Is it that the 72's are hard to find, is why you would want to put the big ones on? Bob, I need to replace the rubbers on my bumperettes...on both my SE's... all 8 rubber inserts... I'm just continuing the process of trying to find out if they're available, and if they're not, then start "mocking up" some 73's (or 74's or whatever) for fitment....ones that hopefully would already have good rubber inserts, or else I would then be back to square one...i.e.: No Rubbers! Jer.

Deluxe are chromed body with rubber cushion. Standart are all rubber up to bumper these are front an rear standart guards view ( 73 ) another diff is 74 are larger cushion ( or complete guard in case of standarts ) at least on rear. Didn't noticed really if some size diff really in front these are deluxe... I'm posting 73 and 74 to note the size diff. 74 is the larger one. I'm assuming standart are the same difference. sorry, right now no diff on how rears attach between 73 and 74. I think you can see valence diff with your 72.hard to notice on these pics. I can get you a better one

Geez......Jer...why dont ya pull the hideaways off and put on some 73-74 grilles while you are at it. Seriously, (and I think most 73-74 owners would agree) those GIGA bumper guards look awful.....they were a step backwards in design necessitated by change in federal laws. I found and bought NOS 71-72 front and rear bumper guard sets for my 72 Rallye project.

Ya wanna explain how sharing your NOS tale was supposed to help me in my quest? And WTF is a GIGA? Nacho, I like the bottom pic set with all the chrome, if I end up having to go that route...I'd bet they are more plentiful and available than the 72 inserts that I've been looking for FOR 10 MONTHS!! (Isn't the top pic, the car w/hideaways, a 72?)

Mine are not nearly that nice. Daily drivers. Pics make anything look new. Just look at ebay.
