Getting off topic, but, going through my collection of Charger pics I notice a few of them have the go wing instead of the gull wing. How does that happen? Was the go wing aftermarket?

Lot of ppl have being adding the rear wings allong the years, not being original ( just original option to 71s ). Mostly sure is a matter of preference from the owner.
Both wings are available aftermarket, and I guess also available from dealer with PN from Direct Connection back in the years. Easy to go to dealer and ad it

charger440sixpac - Hmm, was there a narrower gull wing for the Challenger? I remember seeing a narrower wing with the same tip style as the gull wing. ... Not from the factory, they were all the same part number - 3570208. A lot of guys call them all Go wings but the later version used on 1971 models was redesigned with the swept back tips and many call them Gull wings. These wings were unique to the Mopars at the time. As far as I know, Chrysler used the same part number even though it was a different design, very unusual as normally the slightest change to a part resulted in a new number being used. Also, there are examples of early model Chargers built in Aug-1970 and delivered with the early Go wing as the factory inventory was used up (or so the theory goes). But since the wing was available as an accessory over the parts counters at Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth dealers, pretty much either design could be found on 1971 models on dealer lots. Factory rear wing cars can be identified by the A45 option on the fender tag and broadcast sheet on R/T's & Super Bees or by the J81 option on the broadcast sheet (& possibly the fender tag depending on build location) on 500's, coupes and base models. Neither front or rear spoiler was available from the factory on the S.E. models.

Now that I've been back through my photos I'm sure my memory was wrong. All the short wings have the angular tips.

I'm intrigued by the dart/superbee style twin scoops mounted on this flat hood 71 charger (see picture below). Looks good to me but I would put them wider apart like a 69/70 super bee. I assume they are purely decorative. This wouldn't mate to either the charger or super bee ramcharger system, would it? Would just adding holes above a dual snorkel cleaner have any functional benefit for airflow? cdn.dealeraccelerate.com/survivor/1/433/27365/1920x1440/1971-dodge-charger

Yes, looks like the scoops I added to my Duster back in high school (original A-body scoops). Though these appear to have been smoothed (filler and/or fiberglass) into the hood, and smoothed/filled where the original trim rings were at the front edge.
They also appear to be on the "wrong" sides of the car (though since they aren't original to the car, there really is not right or wrong). These scoops have a bit of a bevel to the bottom of them, which accounts for the natural curvature of the hood surface, keeping the scoops sitting level. This installation appears to have them on the wrong sides of the hood, exaggerating the crown of the hood, rather than compensating for it.
I think the side to side spacing looks OK, but again, no right or wrong. And yes, you would need to do something custom to make them fully functional.

I see what you mean about the left-right reversal. Also it looks like they opted out of the chrome bezels that typically come with this kit.
I've been reading a bit about functional scoops (not forced air, just venting). Seems like opinions are a wash about how useful they are for normal driving conditions.

Can't hurt to open the hood under them, I don't think. But I would not expect miracles.
Mine came with body colored trim at the front, if I recall correctly. I started our with them painted red to match my cars Rallye Red paint. I eventually painted them a very light gold metallic, which was a color I have painted the steel portion of the small bolt pattern 14" rallye wheels.

And yes, you would need to do something custom to make them fully functional. Well, if we consider how is the original box to make them functional!
