Well finally got the chance to finish the passenger door. Installed the outside window felt, door seal and the two end seals. Go to crank the window up for the last time and the slider broke. Panels back off again... May just want to wait until feb 6 for the WPC show and get the parts. Just removed the steering column for a rebuild and taking out the a/c heater control panel for an upgrade.

Nothing too out of the ordinary! 400ci 4 barrel. Installed the Comp Cams Nostalgia Plus 284/484 108lsa. Made the rookie mistake of not upgrading the stall converter during installation as well, so it's having some issues idling at slow idle.

Just removed the steering column for a rebuild and taking out the a/c heater control panel for an upgrade. I bought a kit online. That's one of the projects for next spring/summer along with new steel brake/fuel/vent lines. I can get Inline Tube lines for about half price through work. I was gonna replace the inside windowfelts this winter but don't think that's gonna happen. Need to get the fuel pump replaced in my Dakota so I can sell it. Just getting over covid and I just don't get into working in the cold anymore. Got heat in the one car garage but can't get the car in it. Since the pass door panel has to come off to do the regulator rebuild anyway might pull that off on a warmer day then I can replace that windowfelt inside. I also need to address my steering column that I pointed out up at Frankenmuth. Ugh! It's always something.

So with the idle....you are saying because of the size of the cam, it wants to idle at a higher than stock speed. But that the factory torque converter is trying to engage at that higher idle speed? Back when I acquired parts for the 400/4bbl in my Chrysler, I bought a Direct Connection / Mopar Performance Blueprint cam, which is supposed to replicate the 335hp 383 cam. I figured that would be enough power for the character of the car, without creating any other issues. My Charger on the other hand, I intend to do something somewhat more wild with, if I end up building the car.

Currently looking at 2600-3000rpm stall/torque converters to help lower the idle. Hopefully I won't have to use both feet to drive an automatic soon, haha. If your charger is running a 400 BB, I'd recommend the Nostalgia cam I'm currently running or the 292/509 Nostalgia/Purple version; should give enough vacuum for power brakes + steering. If you're not going to drive it on the street and plan on building the bottom end too with a manual brake booster, I'd go with a .620 Purple. Don't know much on the 340 or 440.
