Oh well, guess its going to be seal down. Yes, It would have been nice if both sides were sealed Nacho. An Internet picture that someone posted showed their bearings visible from the top. This could be the reason my old bearing has a gritty, grunchy sound when you spin it in your hand. There was alot of fine crap that I vacuumed out of the bottom of the column. It will probably take 15 or 20 years to fail again. No more time wasting being obsessive compulsive. Stalled for two days over this part.

The auto spell correct on my phone changed what I wrote to "dark matter" it sort of fits so ill just leave it to your imagination. I can't figure out how to edit through the Tap Talk app.

Yeah, I won't live long enough to worry about the next round of repairs my cars need. Do it right and it's will be good for a long time to come.

A VERY exciting moment. I just connected the new harnesses ( IGNITION SWITCH and TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ) . Five attempts in a row and she started up so quick, like never before. The turn signal switch also apears to work. Hazzards and blinker.
So it appears that a (BAD ignition switch) was causing an intermittent spark.
Before the stearing wheel goes on, would you suggest I place dialectic grease on the back of the stearing wheel where the brass peg from the turn signal switch rides?

Perseverance pays off. This should get a sticky for future reference.

An update, it appears that the horn issue is also fixed. So I got 3 out of three.
Turnsignal return cam .
No spark .
Horn no longer sounds when turning the stearing wheel.
If you rcall, there was a blob of rubberized material on the nub behind my stearing wheel. (Previous pictures ) Apparently someone thought it was a fix for the horn issue. It caused a clearance issue with the new harnesses. It was causing all kinds of noise in the stearing wheel. I removed it and all is well.

One more thing! I have to add another thing that the replacement of the ignition switch cured. HOT START. It also cured the NO START , WHEN the engine is hot.
I never quite fixed this issue and was hoping this would do it.
I had my doubts because the switch is so far away from the engine compartment. How could a hot engine affect the switch mounted in the stearing wheel ? It sure seems that it did.
Moments before writing this post I went cruising in the charger. She started right up again multiple times!

FYI...I made this a "sticky" for now, especially since it was a very detailed repair, lots of good photos and info., and has proven successful at solving several issues.
