Just wondering because I tried it, would I be able to turn it over if I just grounded that wire to the battery and turned the key or does it have to be grounded to the trans?

New harnesses are available for the NSS system. Pigtails with connectors too, but honestly for the full harness price ( $30-35 ), get the pigtail section ( $18-$25 ) is sensesless.
you can ground the G prong straight to the starter relay chassis or anywhere around and you should be able to crank the engine from the ign switch as far ign switch is working and I prong is correctly wired, getting power and relay is good. Sure be sure you are in P or N firts.

Alright so I was getting 11.75 volts at the ground but still couldn't get it to turn over. Not even a click. I had it grounded to the battery. And I just noticed that there is only .9 volts at the splice that I had made that goes to the starter relay. Could it be because there isn't enough power getting to it?

Oh I got one singular click out of it after I change the splice.

Alright so it turned over the engine for a little bit and then it think it just started turning the starter only without turning the engine. It was just making a clicking sound.

The alternator gauge works I assume that's like a battery voltage meter. An AMP meter, actually, IIRC.

yeap, ammeter. It shows the load coming out from the batt or going to the batt. If the batt is fully charged ( and nothing is being sourced straight from the batt ), it will show 0 reading. That´s the ideal status, because it means the alternator is being enough to feed all the car requirements without request any assistance from the batt
