Suffice to say that I now plan to just take whatever is good off of the car and "dispose" of the rest. Anybody who feels like it should be saved is welcome to "come and get it", basically for scrap value, once I remove a few parts.

Oh my...that is rather extreme in a couple of places. Interesting...the driver side appears far less corroded than the passenger side.

Sorry the RR is not in better shape. I was looking forward to a new resto thread. Archie, not all is lost. I will be keeping the 71 Super Bee. So, a restoration thread will be in order for it. I will get a bunch of pictures of it posted up once it is home. Right now, I have to work on making space for it. I liked the picture of your old RR, did you delete the picture? The "green bean" Air Force uniform gave me flashbacks too. I was in the AF from 87-91, so I got to wear that uniform for a couple years too. As far as the Super Bee, I will be making one change to it. It's getting bucket seats, floor shift, and console. It is a column shift/bench seat car, but the bench seat was missing. I managed to get some 71 buckets on eBay last week at a great price. Just received them yesterday. I already had brand new 71 Legendary covers in black, so I really wanted to use them. The RR was presented as a parts car, and that's pretty much what it is. Somehow, both Terry and I both managed to look at it at the time of purchase and left with the impression it was in decent shape. I guess we both need to go get our eyes checked.

Amazing how even experienced car buyers / parts pros like you guys, can be caught in the moment and take home a car that you think is usable and ends up being closer to a parts car. A lesson to me to be extra careful when buying anything. Sent from my PC36100 using proboards

I don't think that is really a totally accurate assessment. Remember, I bought 3 cars from the same seller in Virginia....the 73RR being the last to be picked up. I most certainly was not looking for a 73 RR to restore, I was just looking for any 71-74 b body 2 door with a good roof and cowl/firewall. I wanted those parts to fix the 71 318 car that I had bought in Alabama a few weeks earlier. When I looked at the RR, prior to paying for it, that was my only concern. At that point, I did not care about the quarter panels, core support, frame rails, floor pans, trunk, wheel wells, etc etc...so I did not look at them very closely. I did see enough other goodies still on the car, that I could sell, to recoup most if not all of my money. My standard procedure for buying a parts car. 4 speed hump, 8.75 rear end housing and axles, rear sway bar, rallye dash wiring harness, mirrors.....etc etc Did I look at the car closely? Absolutely not. At the time of purchase I had no reason to. I saw enough good parts on it to justify purchasing it. In the 2 weeks between purchase and pick up, I developed some "guilt" about my plan to cut up a big block 4 speed car. I decided that I would not do that, if the car was reasonably "fixable" Which it turns out, upon further inspection....is not the case. So, I am simply back to where I started.
